Fresh Air Fund and saying no to buracracy

-a week ago I got an email asking me to promote a random group (to me) on my blog I didnt know anyone associated with and that had nothing to do with Cape Verde, so I just ignored it. It cost me nothing to ignore it and did not benefit me either way. As time has passed since (and I was emailed again) I have thought more and more about how needlessly stupid so many things are in my life because of needless buracracy. As powerful as the idea of grassroots movements are, all it takes is people in power to choose to do nothing beyond what they are expected to do to squelch the power of the people. In vowing that I will never be like that with whatever small amount of authority I am able to gain in life, whether over someone trying to get a computer fixed or my own children, I need to look at what Im doing now in my life. So why not help promote a worthy cause even if it has nothing to do with this blog than good intentions? Shouldnt that be enough? So here it is, it took about 30 seconds of my time, a truly unimaginable and mammoth investment of effort for 90 percent of the Cape Verdeans who sit at desks.

I don't know if you've heard of The Fresh Air Fund before, but we could use your help and I thought that you and your readers would appreciate this news. The Fresh Air Fund is now accepting applications for counselors for this coming summer of '09. We hire staff members with a wide range in some pretty amazing fields. We are looking for college-aged men and women who love to work with children. I put together this social media news release which explains it all:

http://freshairfundcounselors.smnr.us/

It would be so helpful if you could post a mention on My Time in Cape Verde with Peace Corps . If you are able to post, please send me the link so I can share it with the team.

We are also always looking for Fresh Air hosts for the summer to open their homes to a child, and any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much and please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Sara
